To spearhead this initiative, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Marine Logistics.
Position Summary:
As the Head of Marine Logistics, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a new department focused on providing logistics solutions for ship spares among others. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in operations and sales. You’ll be tasked with building a small, agile team, fostering strong client relationships, and optimizing global partnerships. The position offers the opportunity to shape a key service line within the company and work closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership: Establish and lead the new Marine Logistics department, focusing on ship spares. Develop and implement strategic goals to drive growth and ensure long-term success.
- Team Management: Hire and manage a small team when the time is right, including 1-2 employees in Oslo and 1 employee in Rotterdam. Ensure the team aligns with company values and objectives.
- Sales and Client Relations: Lead sales efforts alongside operational staff and management, building and maintaining strong relationships with ship owners and other key clients.
- Partnerships: Identify and establish partnerships with strategic agents and partners in key locations, such as Oslo, Rotterdam, Houston, Singapore, and Busan, to support global operations.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee logistics operations, ensuring efficient, timely service delivery while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes and enhance customer satisfaction.
- IT and Compliance: Collaborate with the IT team to revise and upgrade systems as needed. Obtain and maintain an IATA license to support the department’s operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the logistics industry, particularly in marine logistics and ship spares.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to establish and grow a new department.
- Demonstrated ability to drive sales and build successful client relationships.
- In-depth knowledge of the shipping industry, including key global hubs and partnerships.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with IT systems and compliance requirements in the logistics sector.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
